Who controls the skies?

Behind every flight is a fascinating coordination network!

Once an aircraft takes off, several control units take over responsibility:

  1. Ground Control – manages all ground movements (taxiing, runways, takeoff clearance).

  2. Tower Control – handles takeoffs and landings.

  3. Area / En-Route Control (ACC) – monitors aircraft in cruise phase, often across countries.

  4. Approach Control (APP) – guides aircraft safely into landing approach.

All of this happens in real time, coordinated by skilled air traffic controllers who divide the skies into “sectors” and communicate via radar and radio.

Fun fact: More than 100,000 flights are safely coordinated every single day – like a giant moving puzzle in the sky!
