Sand instead of erosion

What would the dreamlike Spanish Mediterranean coast be without its magnificent beaches, which are the destination of thousands of tourists every year?

Sandy beaches are by no means a given, but highly fragile and now highly endangered: Rising sea levels gnaw away with every storm. Dammed rivers, seagrass beds destroyed by anchors and overbuilt dunes can no longer fulfill their function as sand suppliers. A rethinking begins and initiatives to protect the beaches germinate along the Spanish coast. Artificial dunes are being created, promenades are being deconstructed and relocated, and much more is being done to protect the coast. So that also in the future the dream beaches have a chance.
