Higher taxes demanded for private jets

Private jets cause considerable CO₂ emissions: 94,000 flights in Germany led to 10 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions in 2022. Particularly striking: almost 75% of flights 

were shorter than 500 km, including routes such as Munich-Berlin or Hamburg-Sylt.  

The Green party is calling for higher charges for private jets and the increased use of e-fuels to promote more environmentally friendly alternatives. Other countries such as France and the Netherlands have already introduced stricter regulations - private jets will be banned at Schiphol Airport from 2026.
